IDENTITY CRISIS
IDENTITY CRISIS
Introduce me as delightful and splendid. That was the
definition girls liked to give themselves in my junior high school. I guess at
that time, there was a lot of identity crisis going on and everyone was trying
to define themselves away from the childish pedestals, we had otherwise assumed
on ourselves while in primary school.
We all go through some identification definition at
different facets of our existence here on earth. What do we think of ourselves
at every season of our lives?
This has a way to determine the definition you give or not
give yourself. It also means that we are constantly redefining our humanity
based on our thoughts.
WHO AM I?
These three words have caused wars and rumors of wars
between desire and responsibility.
Between spontaneity and self-discipline.
If
you cannot say distinctly that this is who you are at any given time in your
life, then you have defined yourself by one word CONFUSED.
A person confused is swayed by everything that comes in
his/her path and cannot be held accountable for anything. Held accountable also
means cannot be entrusted with anything.
Take a confused man who cannot seem to make a decision on
the business path he wants to embark upon and build a solid future with.
Every business looks like a gemstone project waiting to be
dug out and exploited. He is always looking for some new innovative idea that
would instantly revolutionize the earth and of course make him hit the money bag
in a big bang.
When a particular business fails, it’s everyone’s fault and
never his.
Let’s take another example of a lady this time that cannot
seem to follow through with a career path. Today, it’s a professional exam.
The
next day, it’s a network marketing opportunity that could make a straight shoot
up in the career ladder.
She is constantly taking new steps and burning bridges with
old achievements. When she hits a brick wall, she simply shrugs and on to the
net line of career that could be the career for her.
We can also look at the angle of relationships. If you are
unable to clearly define who you are? You will most definitely attract ALL
kinds of people. Why? There is a definition called CONFUSED which you have so
given yourself because you won’t define who you really are.
Identity crisis ensues when we think the people we relate
with are much better than we are and so, we need to define ourselves based on
the perception we view them. I wish it was always so easy to attain
identification by copying what others are.
Fortunately, every person is uniquely made and crafted and
fit for them and their world. You can make the right steps to identifying who
you are.
It’s not a walk in the park. You have work to do but I know you can
get it done.
There are steps to take to avoid the identity people face in
every generation and I know with necessary help, you can overcome this crisis
and able to help others.
Shalom
Yele.
